CU Biotechnology Building: Sustainability, Affordability & Aesthetics

"Our vision was inspired by the hillside villages of Northern Italy. The Tuscan campus standard includes the locally quarried sandstone walls, red clay roofs and limestone trim. We maintained the Tuscan themes but used brick in lieu of stone, saving the project thousands of dollars. We saved the campus money without losing our vision! We also selected the brick clay mines and manufacturing plant closest to the facility to help the environment." - notes from the Design Team
